Imo what’s the way forward on LGA Chairmen Issues?
Imo state has been under Tension in the early hours of Monday the 6th of January 2020 in Imo State when the suspended chairmen of the various local government areas besieged their council headquarters and vowed to resume duties.
They argued that the Supreme court had declared that no governor had legal right to suspend elected council bosses. The suspended council leaders are relying on the Supreme Court judgment in a case between the suspended chairmen in Ekiti State and the state government.
There were clashes in various LGA in Imo state as attempts were made to prevent the suspended chairmen from resuming duties.
The suspended LGA chairmen and their councilors had mobilized their supporters to the councils while the Interim Management Committee chairmen equally mobilized their supporters to the various council headquarters.
This development has created tension in the State.
