Breaking News: NYSC CAMP SHUT DOWN DUE TO ISSUE OF COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS)
ALL NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP HAS BEEN SUSPENDED TILL FURTHER NOTICE
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has abruptly ended activities at orientation camps across the country.
During the ongoing Batch A orientation camps for graduates which started last week, March 10, and was supposed to last for 21 days, Corps members in the camps, however, were shocked when they were told in the middle of the night that the camps had closed due to the
coronavirus crisis and they were all to receive their letters to places of primary assignment.
According to one of the corp members who spoke to Quingist Team, she said “We started receiving letters to our places of primary assignment at about 1 a.m. Tuesday morning while others got theirs this Wednesday morning.
The decision which we strongly believe may have been influenced by yesterday’s resolution of the presidential task force that large public gatherings should be discouraged across the country.
The task force also banned foreign trips for public officials but did not restrict travel to Nigeria from countries with high cases of coronavirus.
The notice from the task force only said that travelers from countries suspected to have made contact with coronavirus would be on self- quarantine for 14 days during which they would be monitored.
Boss Mustapha the leader of The 11-member task force announced its resolutions on Tuesday night after a meeting in Abuja.
Nigeria has currently confirmed three cases of coronavirus and no deaths.
The disease has killed over 7,000 people globally, mainly in China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea.
Do you think that this is the right decision to make?
