Cabinet members test positive for Coronavirus in Ebonyi State

Coronavirus otherwise addressed as Covid19, the popular pandemic that the whole world has been dealing with has stepped into Ebonyi state and the government has shut down offices after some members of the cabinet tested positive.

The Governor of the State H.E. David Umahi has ordered the sudden shut down of all government offices due to the fact that members of his cabinet tested positive to Coronavirus.

The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Orji Uchenna Orji, released a statement by the state governor ordering the immediate decontamination of all offices with a specific directive to workers in the state Ministry of Finance and Budget to immediately go for a COVID19 test within seven days.

However, just like other cases that Nigeria has been having, the governor did not give the names of the cabinet members who tested positive to the virus, he described the situation as disturbing. And from the statement we will be expecting that all government offices will Ebonyi State will be shut for decontamination from today, Thursday, June 4th to Wednesday, June 10th.

The statement reads like this:
“All civil servants shall work from their respective homes within this period but shall leave their phones open to respond to official imperatives. All Exco members and Government officials especially of the Ministries of Finance and Budget are advised to undergo the COVID-19 test within this seven days period.

The Governor further advises that during this period of closedown of Government offices, all workers especially from the two Ministries aforementioned should go into self-isolation. All site operations shall however remain open, but must be in strict observance of COVID-19 protocol.”
