Hon. Eric Uwakwe SSA Youth Affairs, pays a Condolence Visit To The Family Of Late Ukachukwu Mbagwu Who Was Shot To Death By Police.
Hon Eric Uwakwe the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo state on Youth Affairs, paid a condolence visit to the family of Ukachukwu Mbagwu over the unfortunate death of their son late Ukachukwu to assure the family that justice must be served.
Hon Eric condemning the brutal and unlawful killing of anyone especially an Imo youth by men of the Nigeria police force was short of words when he saw how how the parents and relatives of the late Ukachukwu Mbagwu, was heartbroken gave then his words that those that carried out the murder will surely face the law. In his words “I will work with the state Commissioner of Police, and other security agencies to ensure that the murderers must be brought to book”.
In the entourage of the SSA on Youths Affairs is Hon Igboayaka .O. Igboayaka, The President of Ohaneze youth council and Hon. Chief Lambart Ibeh CEO MegaBand Fm, add in their voices all towards condemning the unlawful act, Igboanayaka said. “I think this incident is a wake-up call to all that there is a need for the police hierarchy to take a second look at the operations of their rank and file. A situation where men and officers of the police and indeed any security organization will willfully cut down the lives of our youths is unacceptable. We should all speak against it. We must all rise against it. The police should realize that they are there to protect the citizens and not to send them to the early grave under any guise”
Achiever Darlington Onyelike, Chairman Imo Youth forum also add in his voice, he said “it is gratifying to note that the police authorities acted promptly. We read every day about the same bad incidence happening and using the opportunity to assure the family, the youth of the state will rise to show solidarity. We live in a society where justice and equity should be the order of the day.’’
“I know that the 21st century policing should thrive more on intelligence gathering, tactical operations, which will bring about clinical execution of an assignment. With this in mind, our security operatives should adopt modern techniques in fighting crimes so as to reduce incidents of avoidable deaths especially of innocent youths, Hon Uwakwe stated while urging Imo youths to be steadfast in their quest for what is just in the society, pledging that the shared prosperity administration of Gov Hope Uzodimma when it comes on stream will work in harmony with the security operatives to ensure that this kind of incident becomes a thing of the past.
Mr. Mbagwu while responding on behalf of his family, expressed surprise at the visit of Hon Eric Uwakwe described it as a soothing balm, which the family needs in their moment of grief, noting that the death of their son Is painful to his family and friends, but it will serve as an eye-opener for the country on the need to reorganize how the nation’s security operatives, especially the police operate.
He went further to appeal to the State Governor Sen Hope Uzodimma, through the SSA Youth Affair, pleaded that the Governor pays special attention to the security of the lives of the citizens.
