Today in history, today is that day Nigeria lost a vibrant young star, today 14th of August 1989 is the day, Sam Sochukwuma Okwaraji, died on the field of play, playing for Nigeria Vs Angola in Lagos.
Sam Okwaraji hailed from Orlu in Imo State. Sam, was also a trained Lawyer from the University of Rome. The Ex-Green Eagles player.
Sam Okwaraji of blessed memory collapsed on the field of play and died of heart failure. He did not die playing against India after scoring a goal in 99-1 final score as the streets erroneously told us.
