#Fraud: Imo Deputy Speaker Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu arrested for N75m fraud
Imo Deputy Speaker Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu was arrested at the Imo State Airport earlier today pending his alleged involvement in a N75million Fraud, and his failure to appear in court over his involvement with the money. A high court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja issued the arrest warrant against the Deputy Speaker of Imo State.
Justice Agbaza Charles in a ruling on Thursday ordered the commander of the Intelligence Response Team [IRT] of the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters Abuja to execute the arrest which took place in Imo. The orders came after the Deputy Speaker failed to appear in court to defend himself on a four-count charge against him by the Inspector General of Police [IGP]
The charge marked CR/230/201 Mr. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu and a firm named Sungold Estate LTM were alleged to have defrauded Wanogan Farm LTD up to the sum of N75million by making dishonest and fraudulent claims in respect to the property known as Hero’s Place, Plot 145 Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent Wuse 2, Abuja.
From the start of the case till yesterday, Mr. Iwuanyanwu has always been absent, the last was on Thursday which his lawyer Nabel Ominigbo apologized for, the lawyer claimed that Chyna was suffering from some health challenges was also unable to provide any medical report to back up his claim when the judge requested for a medical report.
Mr. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu was however arrested by Inspector Godwin Tanko of the intelligence response team at the Imo State Airport Ngor Okpala.
